Women's Build Coming SOON

Athens Limestone County Habitat for Humanity Affiliate is gearing up for our 2009 Women’s Build activity.  The goal of the Women’s Build is to empower women to positively impact lives through building a home. Opportunities for women of all ability levels are available; clinics will be held to train our women volunteers in basic building skills.  Unable to perform the building labor?  We have plenty of jobs - you do not necessarily ever have to swing a hammer!
Our partner family has been selected and the foundation is in place.  We challenge you to give at least one day to eliminate poverty housing. There is a facebook link here

In the News

A great article about our green building was published in the Athens News Courier. Read it here.

Continuing Green Building in Athens and Limestone County

We are continuing to search for environmentally friendly building techniques and materials. Currently, we are using better insulation and water heaters, as well as CFL (Compact Flourescent Lightbulbs) in our homes where possible. Our visit to Mobile gave us more ideas about how to make a more durable and environmentally friendly house. We are now constructing our new subdivision homes to be LEED Certified! Stay tuned for details. Contact us with any ideas!

The Athens/Limestone County affiliate of Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to providing afforable homes for deserving familys. These families must work and pay for each house, and in doing so, continues the chain of families who have bettered themselves by partnering with Habitat. We hope that you will find it in your heart to assist either by volunteering or with financial assistance to continue our efforts so that all who are in need will have the hope of owning a decent and affordable home.

Habitat for Humanity International defines an affordable house as one that is affordable not only by the intial cost, but also factoring in the month-to-month payments and how safe and healthy the home is. That is why we at the Athens-Limestone County affiliate are dedicated to building an energy efficient, healthy home for our partner families.
